Sad News

In October I wrote about a shelter dog named Cole who had touched the lives of her adopter and her adopter's dying father. The adopter had called the shelter to report that Cole was such a wonderful dog and had been her biggest support during a tough time. Unfortunately, this story does not have the happy ending it should have. On Friday, this woman returned Cole to the humane society in a state of obvious neglect and poor health. The volunteers who knew Cole from her previous time in the shelter could barely recognize her she was so gaunt and sickly. As they were walking her to the runs she collapsed and was rushed to the onsite clinic. The clinic staff noticed a festering wound on her leg that they later realized was maggot infested. Sadly, the clinic staff decided that because she was just too sick there was nothing they could do but end her suffering with humane euthanasia. I am just so sad that things ended so terribly for Cole. She was a sweet dog and she didn't deserve to be treated that way. I wish the animal cops could make that woman accountable for what she did to Cole.

Dogless

So, we decided that Texas was probably not the dog for us and found her a home with a young woman and her parents. At her new home she has two doggie siblings and 4 people to pet her all the time. I think she will be very happy in her new home. The rescue group has found us a boy named Buddy that I think will be a really good match for us. He is lovable, playful, and a little younger. We will meet him this weekend and if we are all in mushy love with him we will bring him home. I have seen pictures and he is a gorgeous boy. I can't wait to meet him.
